The Mitchell Cricket Council Under 16 Final was played at Peter Carroll Field on Sunday the 3rd March.
With Blue Mountains winning the toss and electing to bowl saw some early wickets fall and have the visitors struggling before a patient 42 from Tom Siede took Bathurst total to 6-114 then Jamie Bennett (56) and Ethan Comerford's (21) 65-run partnership for the 7th wicket lifted their total to a very competitive 9-182 off the 50 overs. Wickets to Ashton Taylor 3-29 (9) Oliver Freeman 2-24 (7).
We got off to a great start with the bat and after 17 overs at first drinks we were ahead of Bathursts run rate at 3-60 and then the run out of Charlie Griffith (31), whose 90 runs in the teams first encounter proved pivotal in defeating Bathurst last time, caused a steady decline in the run rate. Unfortunately a number of players got starts but couldn't post a big score or partnership.
In the end it was the visitors who emerged 36-run winners, with Oliver Freeman falling for 26 as the final wicket.
A big congratulations to the team, coach and supporters. Great to have you guys as our first Junior representative team to play on turf at Peter Carroll Field.
